| Kilmore
Quay is a small rural fishing village situated
in the south-east corner of Ireland. It is
located 22km from Wexford town and just 19km
from the international ferry port at Rosslare.
As you enter
Kilmore Quay its atmosphere and charm make
a lasting impression. The Visitor is immediately
drawn to the avenue of quaint thatched cottages
which ends at the Harbour, Marina &
small safe sandy beach(ideal swimmimg for
children). It has placid old world tranquillity
emphasised by these neat, white-washed cottages,many
of which have stood undisturbed for more
than two centuries.

The harbour has an added attraction of a
55 berth marina which provides safe berthage
and on-shore facilities for all mariners.
It has a reputation as an angling centre
that goes back to the turn of the century.
Species of fish available include bass,
cod, shark, tope,ling, mackerel,pollock,skate
and whiting(29 different species of fish
have been recorded).
The local seas offer
the keen diver a fabulous location for diving
as the area from Hook Head to Carnsore Point
has long been known as the graveyard of

The area surrounding
the village has many historical landmarks
such as, Ballyteigue Castle, Grange Cemetery,
Lifeboat Station, St.Patrick Bridge, Ballyteigue
Borrow noted for its flora and fauna importance,
and of course the Saltee Islands which is
the most famous bird sanctuary in Ireland.
Ballyteigue Burrow is
the finest sand dune system in south-east
Ireland. The magnificent dunes are perched
on a 9km long coastal barrier that stretches
from Kilmore Quay to Cullenstown. Rich in
wild flowers and butterflies, the western
end is a national Nature Reserve. A lovely
place for a walk.
SALTEE ISLANDS : Two
large granite outcrops in the sea, the Saltee
Islands are the most famous bird sanctuary
in Ireland.
The island's cliffs support eleven species
of breeding seabirds in summer.
A boat trip around the islands affords excellent
views of scenery, the seabirds and grey
seals.
