Rose garden, Kilmore QuayKilmore Quay, Wexford, Ireland – Series of Short Notes on Scenic Village

We are really pleased to launch our Kilmore Quay Cottages’ blog section on our website, bringing you plenty of useful information on Kilmore Quay and the surrounding Wexford area. We will start our weekly posts with a series of short notes about  Kilmore Quay.

KILMORE QUAY is a historic village going back centuries with ancient connections with Britain and France and perhaps beyond. It was for many years only associated with fishing in the south-east corner of Ireland. In recent times the harbour was rebuilt and extended to accommodate larger fishing trawlers. A new state-of-the-art Marina was also built.

Nevertheless the village still retains its unique character. Residents and holiday makers have a wide variety of activities from which to choose; sailing, boating, fishing trips to the bird sanctuaries on the nearby Saltee Islands.  There is a small safe sandy  beach in the centre of the village, South and East of the Wexford village stretch long sandy shorelines. From almost any place in the Kilmore Quay there are panoramic views from the car to the historical K with the Saltee Islands in between.

Clearly here there is something for everybody of every age——- an all action holiday, or doing nothing constructively, or sitting on the on the harbour wall “shooting the breeze”with a few friends.

We will continue our series of information on Kilmore Quay next week, please feel free to give us feedback or share our posts if you or your friends are intersted in visiting this beautiful, scenic coastal village.
